Trouble with ABC Torrent |
Quote |
I can't seem to start the download/upload. Under BT status, it says, "connecting to peers." One is grey, the other become red. Then, I have the ETA status unknown on all of the files. I don't know what it means, but it might have something to do with why the files aren't loading. Anyone have a clue what the problem is?

k, now they're all red, and I have 2 messages that say, "problem connecting to tracker." I know not what it means, though.

Try also utorrent, i am using it now and i'm very satisfied.
Azureus is the best around to my opinion, but due to the java it needs, it is kinda sluggish. But in options and stability its great.
I choice utorrent because i wanted a simple windows client. This one is good and small, and has most options you need (has a similar interface like Azureus).

That#
It's absolutely not true. I use ABC and its my fav client.
You are probably firewalled, or the torrent is dead.
I dont recommend azureus cause java eats your ressources.
I recommend Bitcomet as an alternative to ABC.

no, the firewall isn't a hinderance whatsoever. I had the same problem as before: problem connecting to tracker. The UTorrent isn't any help, either.
I've never used a torrent program before, so I might be the problem. Is there anything I need to do other than save the torrent file, open the torrent program, and wait?

The way a torrent program works, like bitcomet, azureus, abc, utorrent is that you load the torrent in the torrentprogram.
The torrent gives the program info, which tracker to contact (tracker=server which holds info who is download this torrent). The tracker gives you addresses of people also downloading. It also works that if you upload more, you download more.
So don't put the upload too low, make it about 70%-80% of your maximum upload. That works in most cases.
If you have windows XP sp2, it may be recommended to hack your tcpip.sys.
BTW, check out my other thread on tips for torrent downloading :
http://littleangelshentai.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=587
There are a few options troubling you :
- Firewall, but you say it isn't the issue (sure?, Are you connecting to the tracker, utorrent and other programs tell you if you are connected,)
- Not enough seeds/peers. you should be able to see how many seeds and peers there are. If seeds and peers is 0 you will not be able to download it. You need at least 1 seeds or enough peers that have 100% of the data.
- Your router is not letting any data through, you do not have a router which is UPnP compatible and ports are not forwarded to your computer.
make sure that ports 6881-6999 are able to pass through to your PC (port forwarding).
- Your provider is blocking traffic on ports 6881-6999, then set a different port in the torrent program and if necessary change the portforwaring to that port on your router.
Thats it for now, if you have more questions let us know.

Well, sorry to be a bother, but I do have a question. I currently have no seeds whatsoever, 10+ peers and none of them are connected, and somehow three peers and seeds are in swarm. Now, you said that without the right number of peers and no seeds, I can't download the torrent. So, is there a way to increase the number of seeds or peers who are connected? Or is the key to this just time and patience?

Post in the torrent sites forums to request seeders for the torrent, it seems if there is no seeders the torrent is dead. no one is there to send you the file.
Seeder= someone who has the full file, zero of these, mean there is not a complete copy on the connection.
Leecher= You or anyone else downloading the file, from the seeders. and simitanously(spelling) uploading it to each other also.
