Better to have loli life size dolls. There is already a thread made of it with pictures and info.

I disagree loliloliloli,
I can always fold up a dakimakura and put it away...it's awfully hard to explain a loli doll lying in your bed...
Also, even if seen, most dakimakuras are pretty tame on one side. My mother visited us and saw the dakimakuras, her only comment about them was they are "cute"
I at first thought I would have troubles explaining the dakimakuras to my sister, instead she snuggled up with one....I dont think I would have gotten as positive a reaction out of my mother or sister if a loli sized doll shared the same bed as me and sis...
ja ne,
l8r Kay?

Why? Because the materials to make them is expensive. Plus every one has to make a little bit of profit, right? It's a very corner market type item as well. It's not like every one and their brother are going to buy a certain loli character pillow. They have to make as much money they can off of as few items they produce.
I got mine actually from a convention around here. It was 200 even for my Moetan one. Hen-da-ne (forgive me but I don't have his contact number) often goes to conventions in the US selling doujins, hentai posters, and the occasional pillow cover. However if you e-mail him, he's nice enough to go and get you things like figures and pillow case covers.

Um.... I do. I know that they are cuddly. I know that you have to be really careful with the fabric because it tends to "prickle" a bit. They get those little fuzzy balls of thread on the surface, so you have to wear socks if you're using them regularly or any patches of rough skin (knees, feet, etc) will catch on them. I know that they are fun to hug, but not very good for warmth, and they slip and slide around a lot on the wrong kind of surface, which can be painful. *giggles*
I know quite a bit of care/keeping of a dakimakura, but since there are already 3 in the bedroom, a bigger bed would have to be purchased before getting another dakimakura.
But... that doesn't help you much, does it?

Stop wishing and just buy some.
fogfan: ive recently been looking all over the place for these, and i cant find any.
You have not been looking very hard.
fogfan: i checked those websites but their all in Japanese...unfortunately i haven't gotten around to learning that language yet.
Uh... Google Language Tools??? hxxp://www.google.ca/language_tools?hl=en
fogfan: so anyone know any Australian or anywhere english were i might buy one??? pleeezz
E-Bay.
fogfan: btw everywhere i checked in english they were sold out.
Again, you are not looking hard enough.
fogfan: and they cost like 200 buks + shipping whyyyyyy
Well ours on avg were $100-$120 CDN each from third party vendors (people who bought them at retail or at cons). All of ours were from Japan. Shipping was not that bad ($20 I think) Those individuals will often ship listing it as a "gift" which can eliminate any import duty. Only special edition dakimakuras will cost $200 or more.
Why do they cost alot? Most Dakimakuras are made either out of silk or swimsuit material (the swimsuit material ones are very stretchy) Combine that with stitching that holds up under serious cuddling and a picture/design/print that doesnt easily fade or rub off means it is a very high quality product.
Dakimakuras are made to offer comfort and cuddles, they come with an appropriate price tag. After all they are designed for years of sleep.
fogfan: and um if i were to buy from somewhere else, how would it make it past customs?
Well our Hizashi "Kinuka" dakimakura is very nekid and VERY detailed on one side while wearing a bathing suit on the other, our other two dakimakuras are not much different. The box they came in each time wasnt even opened by customs. Even if they had been opened I seriously don't think they would have unfolded the dakimakura just to look at what was on it.
Customs has very little reason to open textile based imports unless they contain narcotics.
fogfan: and if i cant get one, which is probibly the case. can i make my own.. like i think i can print it piece by ppiece and iron it onto a body pillow, but is that how it works? or am i really wrong, and if i aint, then how would i print something that large off, like how would i section it off
I certainly dont want to discourage creativity, but it would be much harder than you think. Remember you sleep with a dakimakura. Even if you dont rub against it when you are awake you will when you sleep. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for: dakimakura are not a manga or a figure or even a T-shirt you occasionally wear, they are something that spend 1/3 of every day with you. I used to think they were expensive too, but after seeing the way we appreciate and enjoy them, they are worth the price IMO.
fogfan: wow i asked alot eyy
You stated more than you asked but the point is taken

^ Saw that this got bumped and I was going to post the same site.
I bought a Dakimakura from them, it was a pleasant experience. No shipping, got here in about 2 weeks, nice quality. You can also email them pictures to render and make your own custom one (or custom bed sheets).
So...yeah, I'd say go to them if you're interested

I think you should be fine. If you are concerned then don't order the pillow insert. Buy one whereever you live. Just buy the pillow case. Smaller shipment= less chance of customs.
I ordered a dakimakura elsewhere, and it was shipped in just a large envelope.
