Good External Hard drives? |
Quote |
Hey everyone. I come with a request for the more tech savvy members here... My internal hard drive is reaching its max of 1.25 Terabytes and well...I don't want anything to happen to it causing me to lose all my hentai sooo, any suggestions for a good external hard drive? I know we can't post links, but a name will do
I'd just prefer it be 2 Terabytes, and not fickle, don't want it crapping out on me x-x
Thanks !

Let me be straight with you.
External drives you buy are basically internal drives in an enclosure+price for people who do not know.
I really suggest to just get an internal drive and an enclosure separately, it will save you up to 70% of the costs.
Or just get an internal drive, that will last much longer imo.

Fair enough, I just want to keep my lolis safe from harm, as long as I have something separate to keep em on, I'll be happy XD
Which do you think would be better for keeping it all safe from say, a crash or something a long those lines?

Regarding vendors, my external HDD 2TB one is from Iomega, and it is serving me pretty fine. I let it turned on for long periods of time as well.
I had a Samsumg 1TB internal with external enclosure, another good vendor.
As for resistance, that doesn´t really change. Unless you want to spend a ton in an external enclosure for an internal drive that is strong enough to resist falls. Otherwise, you should treat all HDDs the same, with good care, and not dropping them at all

Thanks, and :p I know to be careful with em, I'm just worried about my hard drive crashing and losing me my folder x-x or something along those line. So I just need one I can keep the folder on and update it every week or so, just in case
But I'll take what you said into account Sat, and thanks for the two names Dark.
Thanks again everyone

Just wanted to chime in here that I'd probably look at 3tb to 4tb options if your going to buy your own enclosure + HDD. 3TB and 4TB drives are going pretty cheap these days so it's probably not worth your money to be buying anything less than that (hell I got my 3TB drive for only $120 in Jan.)
Where you want to go to buy depends on what country you are in. Newegg is great if you're in the US and NCIX is probably the best if you're in Canada.
Using an enclosure is super easy (anyone could figure it out). I can probably provide links to vendors if you let me know what country you're in.
Price wise I'd say:
3TB HDD = $120 USD
4TB HDD = ~$160 USD
Enclosure = ~$30 USD
So you should be able to get a 3TB external HDD for around $150 USD. You can probably find external drives going for a similar price but I like to buy the drive + enclosure separately since they tend to stick low end HDDs in pre-assembled external drives.

Personally I've had problems with anything that isn't Western Digital or Maxtor.
Granted Maxtor was once known as "Low End Piece of Crap", but the really old Hard Drive I got from them was good for years upon years.
But as Sat said, buying them speperatey will save you heaps.

I get nothing but Western Digital. The only exception is my OCZ SSD drive I use for the primary boot drive. I have my lolies safely backed up onto dual layer 50GB Blu-Rays. A bit pricey, but my lolies are worth it Also, I agree with getting internal drives instead of external. And, if your interested, just google hard drive monitoring to maybe snag some software
