It seems that when i try and launch the game it stops and throws up an error with a bunch of question marks. and becomes not responsive

You have to install the Japanese language package and set your system to use that for non_Unicode programs.

Please refer to these 2 sites, first for XP second for Windows 7, for help.

I believe we have a guide on how to do that here on LAH. The funny thing is my copy I downloaded from here worked fine for a bit, then after I set the language support(applocale...whatever it is) to Japanese I believe I started getting that error, I was only able to fix it by buying a copy off DLsite (which is the one I uploaded here)
