TL:DR-
Art challenge on different site, 1st piece took 2 hrs- got 3rd place of 40. 2nd Piece about 6hrs didn't even place top 10.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Long gap between uploads, but work has been crazy.
Anyway- another site I post on held a friendly digital painting competition last week and I had time to participate in 2 of the 4 categories:
First one was called "Snapshot" and players had 2 hours to create a 100% original piece centered around "an old picture" theme.
I chose a Polaroid theme with a value painting, since they tend to be more forgiving and fit the time slot easier. As usual I spent more time redoing parts instead of overall refining and as such had several small alt versions. It got 3rd out of 40 other subs.
Second piece we had a pool of about 20 images to choose from (MetArt girls) and was given 24 hours to complete a recreation. Not the most exciting thing in the world but I knew I could knock it out in the free time I had avail. I spent about 6 hours on it and while I'm happy with the end result, truthfully once you know the tricks and techniques its not that hard to achieve high degrees of verisimilitude when using a reference.
This one didn't even place- I got a nod or two from a few other artists but the top 10 spots were fuckin ridiculous, a few of those guys and gals went full OCD on this challenge and likely spent the full 24hrs on it.
But yes- long post is long and doubt 90% of you read any of it- anyways, thanks for looking and see ya round the boards.

These are beautiful. Your range of styles is very impressive. Sad to hear you didn't win anything with these, but better luck next time.

Hey, thanks for the replies, always nice to hear from new posters.
I rarely have that much free time anymore so it was nice to break away from the comic/anime style for a bit.

I quite enjoyed the pictures, it's always nice to see more from you.
I liked the style, and the one with the reference looks really quite realistic.

If you're asking about the recent paintings, they were done for a timed competition on another site.
They're standalone pieces, so no greater backstory to them beyond what your own imagination can muster

How bout some fanart of some locals for a change?
I tried to get just close enough to their individual style without simply being a carbon copy, I did several other artists too if these end up being well received-
I don't think either of these two artists need any introduction around here, Enjoy

Excellent work, P7.
I really like it. At a glance, before reading your message, I actually thought you were posting their works.
Fakebank being my favorite of the two.
More would be lovely, I think it's an interesting idea.

You might want to poke 4stray and foggie about this, too. You've captured the essence of both of them well

Hi there, Beagoodgirl, thanks for lending your talents for a wonderful portrayal of Rosie and Father Finnigan. I LOVE IT. The colors and pantomime are spot-on. (I may have to “borrow” a couple of those.) Nice job with Rosie’s dress and expressions and even where I would normally put my signature. If I could give you rep here, I would. I like your wooden desk pattern and the shine on the golden plate. Bravo! Thank you for capturing the cheerful spirit of my best art in this “Fakebank” picture. BIG THUMBS UP!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it
Admittedly, I half-assed BG's. It's interesting too the things about someones art that stay with you- I think its been several years ago you did one of the pictograph pieces, but when I think of your art its those and the animated shadows that always come to mind.
And yes, borrow away- personally, "Cucumber through a Keyhole" is personal favorite lol.
