Compressing Compressed Files, and compressing files overall

Nya. I need to know if it's possible to take a bunch of zipped folders, and compress them further by zipping them again with another format.

Also if you could tell me what is a good format for zipping things, with maximum compression, and least loss of quality.

It's doable (even with the same format), but usually you won't get much more compression out of it. Maybe 1 or 2% more, but that's all I ever got.
That's kind of the thing why some people prefer to keep .jpgs instead of making an archive out of mangas/doujins - as the pictures are compresses, progs don't get much more out of it.

The most common are probably the best out there (why should they keep being common else as they are free), so either zip or rar comes to my mind. Never have tried making a 7zip archive, so maybe that would also be an option.

My preference is rar because of more programs (like CDisplay for 'reading' the pics in the archive) support it than 7zip and windows search-'feature' keeps out of it which it doesn't with zips (no need to find some-1000 results because it snoops inside of zips which also lets it take more time to finish the search).

I tried a couple experiments with zipping zipped files in another format, but as you said not much more compression nya.
