I was wondering what the protocol was for posting other peoples work that I have colored. Do I have to hunt them down, find some way to contact them, and get permission? Or is it enough to give them credit?

Go ahead. It's not even necessary to give them credit, but us artists are happy to see that people do.

Feather,
I appreciate your swift response to my query, I'll be putting up something in the next few days. I just started working on one, it's been a while since I've hopped on the ole photoshop.
