 Help me test something, please? |

My computer is seriously craptastic, thanks to my li'l sister's penchant for downloading anything that catches her eye, and ignoring that "annoying beeping thingy" that means it's something you probably don't wanna be downloading. And so, several viruses, worms and spyware threats later, my PC is stuck at 16 bit color mode, with every PC doctor I've talked to saying to just put the thing down and get a new one.
Until I get the 1000$ or more to do that, though, I have to deal with what I've got. What this means, though, is that I'm not sure about the pictures I've saved. They look pretty low-quality on my end, and I want to make sure they'll turn up alright for you guys before I go posting anything. Wouldn't wanna foist some low-quality loli on you guys.
So, basically, does this picture look alright to you guys? If so, I can start posting the sutff I've found (I have everything in bitmaps, since it's easier to view, so I have to search them out and re-save as JPEG's). If not, then I guess I won't be able to share any of the stuff I find, unfortunately.
So, anyway, here it is (I hope). Just a random pic from my files:

Yeah. When I get my new PC, I'm going all-out. Rather than spend less money on a semi-awesome computer now, I'm saving up to get the most kickass gaming system I can find. 1000$ was the estimate a computer-savvy frined gave me for something with all the latest stuff, tricked out for gaming.
Unfortunately, I'm not as much of a PC gamer as I'd like to be, given my utter lack of cash to support the habit. So I'd have to rely on others to tell me what I need. I figure once I get a steady job and all, I should be able to dedicate more time to some real gaming. As it is, I had to sell my PS2 and Gamecube for food money...
I still have my copy of Disgaea 2, though, eagerly awaiting my new PS3 system, when I get some more cash. Jeez... thinking about it, I'll have zero extra money for my first several paychecks, with all the stuff I need to buy or re-buy.
Anyway, enough rambling, I'm off to re-find those pictures. Another question, though... somebody said that it might not be a good idea to post pics from AerisDies, for some reason, but that's where I get most of mine. Is there some reason pictures from AD won't work?

Reinstall your windows and you'll be fine. Also install a real antivirus and set it to automatically block without asking. Next I would suggest to use a personal firewall and block the sites your sister dowloads from often.

Well, the sister's gone now, thankfully. But my older brother, the computer genius (not sarcasm, the guy is seriously a genius-type) tried to reinstall, and it didn't work. Even he didn't know why. I had planned on getting a new PC anyway (I've had this one since... whoa, since '99, actually. It's just a matter of waiting until I get the cash to get it together. Thanks, though.

Rule of thumb <_< After 5 years, computers cost more to maintain than they are worth... If possible, to salvage what little there is to salvage... Put the hard drive inside that computer inside an IDE enclosure, hook it up to a decent computer, and run a REAL virus scan, ie Nod32, AVG, something that isn't Norton or McAffee, to remove as much as it possibly can as with all that is there now, installing a proper scanner could be hazardous. Afterwards, plug it back into the old comp, run Spybot and let it clean what it can, and then run Hijack This and PM me the log for it...
Though that is only if you want to keep it in somewhat of a state of running for now and since I can't do it personally, it won't be as effective as it should be but it should work well enough

I ditto that. My advice, do a full HDD sweep, reinstall whatever operating system you wanna use and install NOD32.
And if the harddisk doesnt obey, throw it out the window and get a new one, they are hella cheap nowadays.
