What's an .MKV?

Yes, it is yet, another videofile type I don't know about it. Blame my lack of information. >_>

It's another type of vid, yes. (something with Matroska)
An actually annoying one at my comp, but any newer codec pack (CCCP, K-lite, whatever there is) should make you able to play it.

So let's wait for the ones who know better to reply so I'll probably learn more about it as well (especially why it is better than normal avi's which are smaller while I never have seen any big quality difference)

Nevermind, I got that filetype running through VLC mediaplayer.

The main reason .mkv (and .ogm) are better than .avi is simply that the video, sound and subs are streamed separately instead of jumbled, and that, like a DVD, you can switch between the built-in audio and subtitle files instead of sticking to whatever the encoder choose when formatting as an .avi.

Quality is better but not that much, to be honest...

Personally, I dld .mkv because I tend to lend/spread whatever I download, and it's much more efficient to dld something only once whiche pleases both sub and dub lovers!
