why do you use passwords?

Sorry if this may sound rude, but it is very stupid to use passwords on files stored on rapidshare and other similar hosts.
and you even should spread links as much as possible, because more downloads, will mean logger file life, and unloader will usually receive some bonus points.

passwords will leak on other forums anyway, so this protection is pointless
and does much harm:
We need re compress or decompress archive before viewing
passwords are sometimes lost during downloading, and it is some work to find original post with password.

To force people to register befre gaining access to the files. Also to confound the noobs.

It also occurs to me that when you register, you have to agree that you are 18 or old enough to veiw adult materials, so passwording provides some theoretical legal protection.

If I am going to steal someone's upload it is not a big deal to post password too.
you wont get more credit using password, there is easer way just to tag filename itself.
also you will not get more replies either if someone is going to grab and run passworded file wont help.

Go find another set of apron strings to hang off. If you won't contribute and want to complain about how you can't leach, then you get what you give. Zip. And absolutely no one will feel sypathy for you.
