 Trying To Use BitComet |

I downloaded bitcomet to try to download the many torrents I have found here and other places, but whenever i load a torrent into it, nothing happens. It can't seem to find any sources, no matter how new the torrent is. I had one going for two days straight and found nothing.
I signed up and got a username and everything, then I download the torrent file and open it in bitcomet, and it shows up in the program, but never starts downloading.
Am I doing something wrong?

Umm, maybe it just adds them to your list, but is set not to "start" them. (I'm using azureus nowadays, so I don't know bitcomets layout anymore, but I need to start the entrys in my list before it really downloads)
I know it sounds too easy but if you are a bittorrent noob, even that can happen.
Edit: had an old installer so to show it a screenshot.

I do have a firewall, but as soon as I opened bitcomet the first time, it asked for permission to let it have access, and I granted it.
I tried starting it, but it automatically starts in the one I have, but still nothing happens.

Well, as you can tell, I am a real newbie when it comes to torrents. How do I know if there are "seeds", and what the heck are seeds?
And, what does a "dead tracker" mean?
I know I'm a pain in the ass with all my questions, but any help is appreciated.

Seeds or Seeders are the people who already have the complete files (or 100%).
The ones who don't have are called Peers if I remember it right for Bitcomet.
You should be able to see a "Seed/Peer" column on your torrent list, there they are listed.
The tracker is a website where the information about the seeders and leechers is stored for access by your bittorrent client which connects then to those others. If that site isn't working, it's called a "dead tracker". If a torrent has no Seeders for a long time it gets usually called a "dead torrent" as well, but sometimes asking for a reseed (means asking people who have it complete to seed once more) helps, (but sometimes not).
Thats from me for terminology of bittorrent, I hope I didn't miss something.

A seed is one people that has the complete file on his computer. On the contrary, a "peer" is a person who is currently downloading the file. You can see the number of peers and seed you're connected to on the 7th column. (the numbers in () are the total peers and seeds, but you're never connected to all of them)
When you start a download using torrents, your client is connecting to the tracker to ask for the list of peers and seeds for the torrent. So if the tracker is dead, you can't connect, and of course, you can't download. You can see if the tracker(s) (there is more than one in a lot of torrents) status, by selecting trackers, it's on the 4th column. (you have to select a torrent and try to connect first)

Do you mean you have just a short (some KB) file with .torrent ending or did you download a file from such a .torrent file with your torrent client (like Bitcomet, Azureus and how they all are called)?

Then you either don't have the needed codec or the file itself was corrupt.
(Or if you have that shitty WMP 11, the file extension may be wrong, that's enough for mine to say "unplayable")
