javplayer is not able to make descent quality if censor is too harsh and shitloads your output with watermarks.

I would be better IF you could:

- set areas and not the whole picture
- add more than one area
- set active time (when it has to decensor and when not)
- have more than just one option at a time (deflicker + stablelize picture)
- have more than just one color to ignore

Oh well... I tested it out as well. Here is what at max is possible for shoujo ramune using v1.09a.

And the mosaic in this anime, the squares are very big compared with the pic you uploaded.
But is like you wrote, for a very good work, you need work in each scene, and not use the roughtness of the mosaic in "auto". But this can take lots of days for 1 chapter. I just did a small approach to this type of software. I think first i need to learn how to work without javplayer, only using tecogan and wifu2x, because the watermark suck.
And again, without a very high quality video, is impossible work with this.

There is a 1080P remastered version you could take.

Without javplayer and only tecogan is very difficult because you have no mosaic detection and works in full picture mode.

You can set up tecogan fairly easy in wsl linux or windows python plus app IF you take the versions in considuration.

There is a manual around, but it's older than the current necessary dependencies.

It works like this when using javplayer:

Where mosaic's are detected, the image gets resized to smaller size.
In result, the part of the image gets less sharpen and the censor less visible.
There are 3 images calculated with ai technique to make one sharpen.
In combination with waifu2x and calculating the new pixels how they should be, it returns to original size.

The weakness is detecting mosaic, if there is no motion, it can fail.
Also there is a chance for false positives, for example hardcoded subs (look at attached picture).
The new parts might discolor or look obfuscated.
Another problem is, every picture gets calculated one by one and the output can shake or look different.
You might not notice the problems in fast motions, but there is a chance to look worse than the censor itself.

To make single edits for scenes is easier than you might think
(combining using a simple trick to concentrate on scenes instead the full vid).

1. ffmpeg -i inputvideo.mp4 -vf fps=24 out%04d.png (for full and edited video each)
2. ffmpeg -i inputvideo.mp4 -vn -ar 44100 -ac 2 -ab 192k -f mp3 output.mp3
3. replace the images to add decensor (you can photoshop the images before adding if needed)
4. ffmpeg -r 24 -n -i "out%04d.png" -i output.mp3 -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -b:v 2520k "output.mp4"

You might want to use different formats, bitrate or two-pass encoding, but you should get what i did here

I have javplayer modified not to use any watermarks - it's stupid to have shitloaded bought software!

It's always better to use high quality as input material, but...
As test, i remastered lower quality pictures using waifu2x-caffe and the outcome was awesome for lower quality.
Anyway, having the best quality is one thing, the other is not to have any kind of censor in the first place
