I hope that you can find some way to fix the tripod. I know those are crucial to getting a lot of different types of set up shots and anything with a longer exposure. At least the more important and expensive camera was spared.

So the tripod is locked at one level? Can it be closed or opened? I'm trying to visualize the damage. Did the crank break off cleanly or is there damage to the mechanism?

Sorry, my reflexive response is to try to figure out how to fix something that's been damaged. Maybe you can find a guide or something online for problems like that. Or ask a mechanically inclined friend to take a look at it.

the crank completely snapped off when the tripod was at full extension
the tripod itself"legs extend open and close just fine still "i had to manually lower the camera mount which took a long time without the crank

Good. It sounds like it isn't completely broken. So you may be able to figure out an interim fix.

I hope you have better luck with your projects.

TY i can run and gun for a while i just cant do long exposures with it like this it further limits my abilities so now I'm looking at a possible replacement or addition and just keep this one for lower perspectives

So due to the weather and actions of my shift lead Sunday night I'm in so much pain my arm is in a sling it has to be relatively immobile till Wednesday

So today i was going through my stuff looking for the parts to a swordsman outfit i put together over a decade ago
no joy all pieces except the sword is gone to the sands of time and i cant get replacements due to both cost and loss of the websites i ordered from i guess i have to start over
