I would say to go with the regular golden eagle. The patriotic one doesn't jibe since what you're using is a pose very similar to that used with bald eagles. You might want to vary it from a strike posture - or else give it something that it's already caught, like a fish.

Any special associations for you with either the golden eagle or the wolf?

Your Iron Dragon could work with some tweaking to the design. It reminds me of your golden eagle coming in for a strike landing only I'm not sure what it's doing with its tail.

I know that there are a lot of different styles in use in different countries. Are you trying for a Chinese or Japanese design? The head style at the center of the Asian design is good. It looks like many of the depictions I've seen. It's the rest of the body that doesn't feel right. The limb positioning and relative body size/thickness makes it seem out of balance or proportion.

i was preparing to shoot the eclipse because it was also a blood moon and flower moon which won't happen again in my lifetime and my tripod failed the center position crank snapped off i swear my serotonin and dopamine levels crashed when that happened

Western style is European and identified as an Iron Dragon. Interesting idea about the tail, but it looks too far forward for that. A counterbalance would be pointed back instead of forward, I think. A forward angle could be used opposite the wings, I suppose, though not during a downward strike. More likely when pulling back up into an ascent.
