The maker has been working on various animations, so there is that at least. but, yeah, do not expect so much as a release announcement any time soon.
I might try to dig and see if i can get them to give us a percentage to completion guess.

Last update to his dev log was on 2023/04/30, there he says he has literally no idea on when he'll be done. also sounds he's about to burn out once again.
It's his own fault really, too many characters & he wants all of them to have animations.

It is not that it is too many characters, it is that he is doing everything alone. Plus, injury and illness have plagued him quite a bit lately. 
I know it will be ages for this game to finish and I am okay with that. It gives me something to look forward to...

Can't comment on injuries/illness but plenty of developers have done more with less in shorter time, so it's never ever an excuse. If he's unable to do this much for whatever reason then he does need to cut down scope and build up later.
This is not a passion project, it's already being sold incomplete on dlsite and who knows where else. If there isn't something physically preventing you from finishing you're game, you're either lazy, malicious, or both. Period.
That's the state a ton of patreon on games are in. There's one with an asshat of a lead who actively attacks anyone who says anything negative about the game and gets them banned from the steam forum. No updates in 3 years. Patreon makes well over 15k a month last I checked ages ago. Announced a release date, pulled it two works before with some bullshit excuse, now it's been a year since then and people are still paying them money.
People like you are the reason these games never get finished. They tell developers it's okay to be lazy instead of learning self-discipline or keep on feeding them cash for a project they probably dumped years ago.

According to what the creator has been posting, the game has made significant progress in the past year or so. They have said that they are nearing completion and are focusing mostly on the various animations. At the time of this comment, they have announced that they will soon be releasing, at the very least, details of the next trial version.
While I would consider what they are doing to be a passion project, it is not their sole activity and life has many ways of getting in the way of what one would prefer to do. Believe me when I say I have a great many things I would rather be doing than working 50+ hours a week just to spend all my efforts on bills.
Whatever people choose to spend their money on is entirely up to them. The creators who make a product do have a responsibility to respond to that, but I am not some police force to go after abandonware. If they fail to produce and people continue to pay, that is not my problem.
I have never paid for an incomplete or in development product that did not have an official confirmed release(pre-orders of AAA games). I do not even have a patreon account, so do not lump me in with those types who continue paying someone else's bills.
All that said, this is no place to get pissy about such contrivances and I will not continue to do so.

Kinda sad to see that is still in "progress", I think he is gonna do like yanderedev and sit on those sweet patreon monthly subscriptions, kinda shitty but cant blame him.
Welp whatever, guess we only can wait, and hope he doesn't die or smth, at least it looks like its gonna be a high quality game.
Also, its been 8 years since this thread was created lol.

As of the most recent CI-EN post, they have announced trial version 2.
So, that is coming down the pipeline. Probably not before the end of the year.
