Study of another artist - unknown
Software: Corel Painter 11
Pencil Lapis 7H for general work
Soft Airbrush 20 for body shading using Soft Blender Stump 20
Zen Camel Wet Watercolor
I liked the way the watercolor came out (first attempt). Not so happy about the airbrush blend. Next time, I will stick to the watercolor for the shading and see how that turns out.
Will be trying inks too!
Time: 1.5 hrs.

Study of another artist - Takei Shikin (one of my favorites)
Software: Corel Painter 11 and Manga Studio Pro V. 4
Manga Art Ink Pen - Manga Studio for line work
Pencil Lapis 2B for detail work
Tinting - wet brush for color detail
Zen Camel Wet Watercolor
I didn't realize until I started watercoloring that the stocking was not drawn in completely by the original artist - so I was a little lost as to what to do here. I decided to run with it - not happy with the outcome. I would take out the stocking in another attempt and stick with flesh tones.
I liked the result of shading with the watercolor a lot more than I did using the airbrush.
Time: 2.0 hrs.

Hi dilbert,
Congratulations on jumping back into the art scene after a 20 year break! I can relate, I had a gap of 15 years myself. I use Manga Studio 4 software to draw as well and I like how straightforward it is to use. (I use Photoshop for color.) I hope that you are finding it fun to draw with the new digital medium - it takes some getting adjusted looking at the screen instead of paper. Keep up the practicing (and posting)!
