What ruins? Are you talking about the large tower on the left hand side of the map screen?
Go back to camp and click through the options. There should be some sort of conversation topic there somewhere.
Replenish hunger and thirst? Use the shop and the money you've picked up. I'm pretty sure it's option number 1 under camp. Go buy some food and water. So, in short, no there isn't.
Sometimes new areas will open when you get a new party member.

Little question, and has been a while since I've played it, so apologies it it's a little vague.
Pretty far in to the (I think) the first area (the lake) there's a bit that looks like it's underwater. You can only turn right and then go north, however you end up walking right into something solid and quite harmful, which pushes you back.
I do have the purchase version from Maniax.

Hmm I have recently bought the game, I had downloaded it before from this thread and I succeeded in getting the text to show itself. But after I have bought the game, the fix doesn't work anymore.
I'm using windows 7 ultimate, and have put my non-unicode programs to "japanese". I have also tried to convert the entire system to japanese but that didn't help either.
I took the RGSS102J.dll file from RPG player's native folder. But when I switch the dll files and rewrite the .ini file the game still doesn't crash. It works just the same and still without text.
Otherwise I have followed the instructions (and I did make it work once) but without luck.
If you need more information tell me ad I will provide it.
Needless to say, I have tried using the instructions many times over 'till I was absolutely sure I hadn't misinterpreded it.
I really hope that someone has an answer or has the ability to contact some people who can make a universal and permanent fix.

RGSS103J.dll is a permanant fix for this and it's sequel.
KN2 is set up to read from RGSS102J.dll, which in itself is fine. However, the copy bundled with the game is kind of borked, so look for RGSS103J.dll, drop it into the KN2 folder, delete RGSS102J.dll and amend the .ini file's "Library=RGSS102J.dll" to read "Library=RGSS103J.dll".
Once you're set to Japanese Unicode, it should work fine like this.
It's worth remembering like this:
Diary of Yoiya: The copy in this archive works fine.
Kunoichi Ninpocho: Replace RGSS102J.dll with a fresh copy from the intarwebz.
Kunoichi Ninpocho 2/3: Follow Instructions above.
The game he has slated for September: We'll see.
Still can't figure out the underwater-esque section.

Hey guys! Just a quick troubleshooting note that might help someone in the future:
To fix invisible text with KN3, all I had to do was - straight up - remove the RGSS103J.dll from that folder. I cut and pasted it one directory above (in case it did nothing to move it back) and suddenly I have text. I can only assume that it was trying to reference the one in the folder first, and the one supplied had an issue. This is an official download, so it wasn't third party - this might be a valid fix for KN 2 and 3 for this issue.
Looking to reupdate this thread with working links of Mephisto's works. I only have KN 3 and the other one from that time era that I totally forget the name of. If anyone has KN 1, KN 2, Diary of Yoiya, or that newer one where you play as two in a run or rape kinda game it would be awesome to slap some links up. This thread is pretty ancient, but who knows!
