ok um dunno if this has been said already, but if you cannot get past the install directory thing, (you keep on clicking next but nothing happens), then that means your HDD space isn't enough.

One would actually assume the three CDs are full, coming to a grand total of 2.1GB, with compressed cabinet files. Free up another two GB and you should be good to go.

But seriously, who wouldn't have about 5GB of free space left?

It could also mean (as mine did a while back) that you've just encountered a system lock.

I remember playing this game about 2-3 years ago when I had a pretty crappy computer. Although the battle graphics are not that great the CG's and 3D h-scenes were the only things that kept me playing the game despite the lag and long load times. That being said the game is pretty awesome and worth playing even through the lag.

I got this too, the first time, and the second time. Usually this happens if you have three Virtual CD drives set up and one disc image from the game on each. If this is the case, either disable two or only use one at a time, as it writes the install drive to the registry before the install completes, and I think this is where the Retry / Ignore / Abort box comes in.

If you ARE using one disc at a time, you can try it my way:

1: Download IsoBuster, or some such program that can open Disc Images. (Note "Open" not "Read")
2: Make a new folder and give it a name.
3: Open CD1 using IB, or whatever you're using, and copy all the files therein to the folder you made.
4: Then copy over the Data Cabinet files (.cab) to the same folder.
5: Install the game, it should go fine now.
6: To run the game, it will look for CD1, so either mount the image again, or burn all the xtracted files to a blank CD and give it the same label as the image.

That should do it. One or the other of these methods should work.

Sorry, my sisters were ranting that the PC is too loud for them to sleep. I'm continuing with the seeding now.

Hi,

This is my first post here, but seeing as I'm a bit on the techie side... cleaning the insides of your computer can help, particularly the fans. Just make sure to power down AND unplug the power cord. You can use compressed air to blast away dust, use a handy vac, remove things like fans and clean the blades, etc.

Oh, and why not post things with emule as well. It as ip-filters and spam protection as well as other anti-intrusion measures, and there are some really good mods for it (I use xtreme). In many cases I have found it to be faster than any torrent engine.

I could swear I saw this same post earlier in the year...

Some people wouldn't trust themselves to disassemble a PSU, and I can't blame them. Most computers now come with two (or three) types of fans: a CPU fan and a case fan. Some also have a third fan. The PSU is not an integrated piece so that's sepereate and has two to three more fans.

As for emule, some countries have downright outlawed that, as well as the other thing that begins with e and TPB. Faster than a torrent engine? That's a contributive factor idea. The seeding speed as well as peer speed affects that and then there's the other three: the capability of the engine itself, the capacity of your router and network load. I'm on a 3MB line and quite often I get 300KB/s on a single running torrent.

I'm not trying to convert you, just filling in some holes. Plus some people here don't like P2P software (and I count myself among them), which is why they provide mirror site links. Also, I tend to take things like "anti-intrustion" and "no spyware/malware" with a huge pinch of salt. A little bit sceptical but a large bit realistic.

<Moved the following from the help and test-post forum, after which I deleted the former thread)

So I was reorganizing my files and found out that I have the CD images (3x .bin and .cue) for Sacred Plume. The images were contained in a folder entitled [LAH] Sacred Plume, and there was a text file included in it, sacred-plume.txt, with the content as follows:
"This torrent was created for releasing purposes for Little Angels Hentai.
The translation for Sacred Plume is being worked on and is a LAH-insider project.
Feel free to drop me a comment.

Sat
http://www.littleangelshentai.net"

My computer's system locale is always set to Japanese for non-unicode programs, and I have installed many Japanese games/programs without a hitch despite using Vista. I'd also have East-Asian fonts installed as I regularly type and read in both Japanese and Chinese.

As such, I loaded the CD image for CD1 (using daemon tools), ran the install.exe, clicked on game install, leading to InstallShield Wizard popping up (in Japanese, and yes it's perfectly legible) after which an error message from Windows Installer pops up, with the following error message (naturally, in English):

"This installation package cannot be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

After clicking away at some other files in CD 1, I'd found out that install.exe apparently opens setup.exe, which will then run セイクリッド・プルーム.msi (sacred plume.msi), at which point the above error message will pop up. Running setup.exe directly will lead to InstallShield Wizard popping up (the same as above), after which the error message will occur. Running セイクリッド・プルーム.msi directly causes the same error message to pop up immediately.

I then ran セイクリッド・プルーム.msi directly by using the command prompt with elevated privileges (cmd.exe->run as administrator), which gave rise to the same error message. I then tried extracting the entire CD1 by using Magic ISO, then renaming セイクリッド・プルーム.msi to sacred plume.msi. This prevented install.exe and setup.exe from finding the .msi file (as I believe they are written to find セイクリッド・プルーム.msi instead), and running the renamed sacred plume.msi directly by both double-clicking and using the command prompt led me to the same error message earlier.

I then tried installing applocale and setting it to Japanese, which, as expected, failed for all of the steps above which I'd repeated. I then set the regional (not the system locale, which is already set to Japanese) setting to Japanese, and repeated all of the above steps. As expected, it also failed.

Note: The regional settings are the ones for numbers, currency, time, short date, and long date, which I believe would not help at all but I was just following suggestions from previous posts.

I had successfully installed Sacred Plume before on an XP machine. As such, I believe that the problem is that the .msi file is not compatible with the Vista Windows Installer. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Alternatively, I could manually extract the game files from the .cab files contained in the CD images, but I need to now how are the game files arranged (the folder structure from a properly installed game) in order to pull it off. I think I can wing it without the proper registry entries. Could someone perhaps provide me with the folder structure?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'd also tried reading this thread, and using the search function with keywords: Sacred, Plume, Install, but nothing of use came up. Also, I'd also tried running the .exe's under compatability from Win 95 to Win XP, which, as expected, also failed, as the problem lies with the .msi and its compatibility with Windows Installer.

And yes, I can read, write, listen to, and speak Japanese, so I am sure that the fonts are installed properly.

I have seen others who couldn't even start the game under vista.
I can only recommend installing under xp and then copying the folder.

No idea if it will run, I am staying with xp over here.
