Nope, I'm pretty sure they are a solid ornament and only move when she is in Trance. In fact, at Madain Sari, Lani is holding her by the wings and, I am pretty sure, specifically identifies it as an ornament. Still, I might be wrong, and will probably look it up sometime soon just to be certain one way or the other.
None of this changes the fact that you've posted some damn good pics, by the way!

Hmmm, you have a point. It's quite hard to tell for sure though. Best bet is for me to play FFIX, which I can do either on PS2 or (much easier) emulator on my PC. Battle will give initial view, and if I can get to the relevant scene where Lani is holding Eiko, I can check my theoretical ornament quote too. I shall let you know...

Hi res... nice one! A few more for my collection. And you're not the only pervert here; my collection stands at more than 350 pics in my Final Fantasy Folder alone! Then there's Kingdom Hearts, Pokémon, Harry Potter, Megaman... to name but a few. My computer reckons the total count for the entire pics folder is over 1000 but I dunno if there are any random system files or repeats in there. Even with a highly organised folder system, I still do get the occasional repeat due to the sheer number to check! Anyway, we should all keep them coming... me too. Must see which ones I can upload that aren't here already... I don't think I've seen the ones I'm adding now on the thread, but short of checking every page, I can't be sure. Hell, they might even be ones that I got from here in the first place. I just don't know...
Now there's an idea. Wouldn't it be good if we could somehow have an overview of the pics posted so far so that (a) we wouldn't have to check every page, so it'd be easier to avoid repeats and (b) we avoid missing pics even if we miss the post they're in. 
Regarding Eiko, I have looked at both field and battle, but neither are clear enough to be sure. I have, however, found an FMV from disc 3 that shows them clearly as solid and rigid. It's the scene where Zidane rescues her and Garnet after Alexander is summoned.
I'll let you know if I can get it accessible for you to see - my initial attemts failed on my SkyDrive after the file size proved too large. Oh, and the Lani bit isn't gonna happen any time soon - I have no save files before the end of the game, so I'd have to start afresh.
