Photoshop Problem: Gradient Tool

Hello, I have a little but a quite troublesome problem with the "Gradient Tool". When I select a color about the "Swatches" with the "Gradient Tool", it doesn't work, the color won't change anymore. But it still works for other tools like "Paint Bucket Tool". I have used the "Gradient Tool" many times ago, and it worked well, but today for some odd reasons something went wrong with it. When somebody knows an advice or know that a re-install could solve the problem I would be really thankful.

try double clicking on the preformat gradient
this will enter a box where you can pick the colors
