There are 2 big problems I have with the Japanese regional setting method.
1. It can screw up documents (and thus programs relying on those documents) using special roman characters like ō & ū (but any similar extended alphabetical symbols).
2. Some programs will continue to think your computer is in Japanese mode even when you revert back. Nero is notorious for this.
Sadly there is no way to enable Japanese fonts for specific users.

Dood . . . My Vista is so worthless. It doesn't seem to have Region & Language settings.
Only that thing with the right-click menu, but I don't think that's it.
Edit: Found the settings once I switched view-mode.
But this is still bothersome.

Well I would love to use the utility but I'm not running an official copy of XP, which you need in order to download Applocale.
I've tried changing to Japenese via the regional settings in the control panel and that seems to have worked, but it requires a restart. I can't restart my machine every time I want to play a game!
Anyone know of some other option that doesn't involve resetting your machine, or needing a legal copy of XP?

Well I have messed up my machine now!
Ever since I tried to change my regional settings to Japanese, all the graphics on my machine are glitching. Like all the images on this website are being enlarged slightly. And text is messed up. I can't even read text clearly any more. And everything is really slow!
I changed the regional settings back to English, but my PC is still the same! Hellllllp!

Applocale is included with the file, and any file that requires you to normally get from Microsoft and verify can usually be obtained elsewhere with 5 seconds of googling so even if it wasn't included, it wouldn't matter.
As for your problem, post on the proper forum about it and it can be dealt with there.

You have to install east asian language fonts.
Go to:
Control Panel -> Regional & Language Options -> Languages
Click on the checkmark box "Install East Asian languages"
This will require you have your windows CD with you because it's grabbing it from the disk. Once installed though you don't have to worry again, unless you reformat.

If you can't find your CD, just torrent a copy of it. Doesn't have to be a legit copy in order to install the stuff off of it.
And now that I finally have a copy of Vista in front of me, I now know it works in Vista just fine so I can add that into the title.

kingwolf: if any1 happens to find a program like this for vista please post it =D as it so happens i can helpr you out on this issue. after you download the apploc.msi from the microsoft site, place that file in COMPUTER: Cdrive. dont place in any folder. now find the command prompt and right click. select run as adimistrator. now, in the command prompt type:
C:\apploc.msi then press ENTER.
the applocale should start up without the install error.
