Sorry… totally OFF-TOPIC post here:
Apologies for interrupting this thread, I just wanted to post something in the Artists forum without starting a new thread. (I made a thread about this earlier in the Dicussions: Little Angels forum, but I guess I picked the wrong place to ask.)
I was wondering about colouring in. I'm an illustrator and I love colouring in. I vastly prefer colour to black & white. I was really just wondering:
(Bear in mind I'm a newbie to this community.)
1. Do any of the black & white comics posted here get coloured in by someone here? If so, how often does this happen? Are most b&w comics usually converted to colour by someone or other?
2. Is there any particular requirement for people to colour in?
3. Is there anywhere I can get hold of original scans (uncompressed or full res) in order to colour them in? Or would I just have to PM specific posters to get hold of their scans?
4. Which would be a good uncoloured comic to have a go at if I wanted to post an example here of my colouring? The last thing I want to do is work on something that's already been done! (What a waste of time!)
I should add that although I'm an illustrater, I've never really done any illustration of the type that people would like here (yet). Otherwise I would post that obviously. But colouring in I find very enjoyable and don't have to think too much about it.

Well I'm always working on something, but I have a hard time coloring, actually the hardest part I find is cleanup. Here's my thread:
http://littleangelshentai.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4782&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Anyway, I've got a doujin in the works now but it's shota themed--I'm planning on toning it but I really need to redraw it all.

You'd be polite to read the thread of the artist you used. Actually, mine. And I can say that until recently only things I have done were colorings. Answers?

From the lack of response, I assume there isn't really any requirement for new colouring artists?
I'm quite surprised because personally I really strongly prefer colour to black & white. I thought there might have been quite a few people who wanted comics colouring in.
Fragnostic, I am sorry to hijack your thread! I belong to many communities where you should never start a new thread just for a quick question, and it is preferred that people always post quick questions in an existing thread before making a new one. So I thought I was being very polite actually!
I supposed I could have read through a lot of individual artists' threads, looking to see if any more colouring skills were needed, but I didn't. I just thought it might be quicker just to post a general question.

Hmmmmm. Thanks for the link but I'm really only interested in doing something nude/erotic, like a full doujin, not just 1 nonude pic. (Cute pic though!)
Actually my PC in on the blink at the moment. Ever since I tried to change my regional settings to Japanese, all the graphics on my machine are glitching. So I can't do anything until I can fix this! I can't even read text properly, and everything is really slow!

You're welcome to pick your favorite doujin and color it. You don't need someone else to ask you to.

Doujinshi is a Japanese word for a "self-published manga" and a manga is a Japanese comic book, and since the Japanese didn't invent the manga before the comic book, I think it's fair to call a manga a comic.

feather: You're welcome to pick your favorite doujin and color it. You don't need someone else to ask you to. Of course! I was just trying to make some kind of contribution around here so I thought a request might go down well. I thought these people who translate/uncensor dōjins might appreciate having them coloured too.
Also, I don't really know what's been coloured and what hasn't. So I thought a request would be safer than just picking my own thing.
One problem I still have is that I don't have any original scans at all (uncompressed or high res). So the only thing I can provide at the moment is a re-compressed jpeg, which I really don't like doing, and I'll have to reduce the compression so the files will be bigger. It would also be vastly easier to colour a dōjin with a screen (greyscale) if I had a high res (print quality) scan of it. But I guess that's optimistic. Really, just uncompressed images would be nice.
feather: >.> And don't call them comics. Sorry! I've spent my life drawing what I call "comics" (and I'm not the only one who uses that word). I will use the word "dōjin" here from now on. And, as requested, I will not refer to illustrations as "cartoons" either.
The preferred vocabulary here is rather specific, I must say!
