Maybe it's just me, but I extract the rar, get 3 files (ClassroomoftheTentacle.exe, Data.dxa, and Readme.txt) run the exe file, it loads up a new window with nothing but a black screen, then it exits without doing anything...

Well I have my region settings on Japanese constantly, which usually does away with the need for app. I'll try that and see if it helps.
EDIT: Well, App says my system can run the game just fine without it, and I still get the same problems. What language do you select to run it on?

I keep my system region as English(US) and ran it with applocale with the last option Japanese.

I ran it just fine using windows to open and I do not have even have jap. language installed. It was an intrestig program.

Yeah, I'm getting the same problem myself.
Tried a bunch of different things
Changing compatibilty, screen resolution, colors, etc...
no workie workie for me. sigh...
I had the same problem for this other CCS game I have.

Well at 1st, i run the program with the language for non-Unicode program in Japanese setting and i got the sudden exit thing... after i change the language for non-unicode program to English it works fine... It seems that this program need the language for non-unicode program setting to be in English...
