Confirmed. Uploading an image larger than the upload size limit returns an error page with a misleading message.
I will most likely have some free time to investigate by the weekend.
Thanks for taking the time to write up a detailed issue report.

I haven't had enough free time yet, but I'll handle this as soon as possible.
Anyien: It only happens for files over 5Mb i believe, under that you will get the too big message.
Thanks for the debugging help, Anyien.
As I first thought, this issue is most likely due to the server dropping the file upload due to it exceeding the server's POST/upload file size limit. As this happens at HTTP server level (before reaching the scripting logic), the script just thinks you didn't try to upload anything at all and results in that weird error message. I haven't had time to analyze the code yet, but given all the symptoms, this is the only plausible scenario.

Fixed.
tl;dr: if you select a file larger than 2mb, you will immediately get a message and the selected file is discarded. See attachment below or try it yourself. Note that this requires JavaScript enabled and an up-to-date browser.
Long answer: when uploading a file larger than 5mb, your request's body will exceed the server's POST request size limit setting, thus not only the uploaded file but all the POST data is discarded before reaching the scripting logic.
This way, as the attachment upload is currently done through a regular POST request and the server discards all POST data when the request exceeds the maximum POST size, the scripting logic would not have the required data to rebuild the posting form page and thus the blank error screen you have seen previously.
Therefore, I've chose to apply a client-side check which (provided the user has a decently up-to-date browser with JavaScript enabled) should provide much faster feedback and prevent the user from getting that weird error page. Users with JS disabled may still get that error page when uploading files larger than 5mb, but this use case is not a priority as there isn't much that can be done server-side.

On a related note, when previewing your post, the uploaded images shows up in reverse order.
The first time I uploaded the images in the right order but the preview showed them in reverse order, so I canceled and uploaded manually in reverse order to get it right. And turns out it was the right order all along...
_________________ Disclaimer: Please take everything I say at face value.
Yeah, reverse was the normal order but I've reversed it because it makes more sense for us. The preview still shows it the old view. It's minor but thanks for noticing.
