Seems to work perfectly no viruses if anyone else wants to download. Choose not full screen first run through and now can't seem to change it and letters sometimes seem to run together but that may be due to not installing the fonts correctly - advice on how to do that in windows 8 welcome. Thanks a bunch this shall keep me entertained for many hours. Really do need to find a translated copy of the romance of the three kingdoms so I can read it sometime.

I haven't windows 8 but I don't think you have to use the jap locale software
to play a specific game, but instead should try the real japanese locale mode

setting for all windows to japanese locale

because I'm not sure that this game is english or translated from japanese
also if you can't (or I assume that a win8 user can't) install DirectX 9.0 on Windows 8
this is another potential issue that makes troubles playing a lot of H-games
