In case you are wondering why I used Adfly, is because it makes it so mediafire cant see where the link has been shared and viewed from.
I've noticed that mediafire removes allot of files purely because they notice they have been shared from sites like these.
They have removed files of mine even if I use encryption on the file names, with a pass, so this way, they can't see where it has been shared, and accessed from 
This should actually be compulsory in my opinion, if we want links to stay alive.

You know adfly doesn't only offer paid services.
They also have a free link shrinking service, which is very useful regardless of the ads they have while you are redirected to the destination page.
I used that link redirection for a purpose, to keep mediafire from putting another strike against my name and taking down all of the files I have shared here in the past.

If you use links with hxxp, it's impossible for mediafire trace the link back here, since there is no referer sent to them. See hxxps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_referer

I thought that was only if you clicked the hxxp address (then it fails to be recognized), then you fix the address to http, so then its basically as if you copy/pasted a link into your browser, not being referred.
But in my case, and in many other peoples cases who have addons to allow firefox to recognize those links the same way, I would think it would work the same way http would, and still be shown as a refer link on the host.
If thats not the case, I'll happily change my link to a straight direct link... I was just trying to make my link more secure from being chopped down like so many others do.
EDIT: I just tested that hypothesis on my own website server, and I could still see the referring website.
So it really depends how your browser reads the hxxp address.
And a little thanks would have been nice. it took me a long time to find that file for the person who requested it.

Of course, if you use a addon that bypass the hxxp it will be just like a hotlink and seen, that´s why we don´t want people to use that on LAH...
As long as you don´t use addons like that the site won´t see where you are coming from.

Worst of all is not the addons, but rather default browser functionalities -- e.g. in Chrome, you can select part of a link (without the hxxp:// part), right-click it and select "Go to <selected address>". That used to send the referrer in some older versions of Chrome, but seems like it no longer sends a referrer in an up to date version of Chrome.
By the way, you don't really need a site to test the referrer forwarding, you can test it with hxxp://www.whatismyreferer.com/
Finally, in my opinion as a developer and defender of the open web, it is unreasonable and an already lost battle to ask users to don't use certain plugins or built-in browser functionality. Users decide how they consume the content we serve, not the developers. The most magnificent thing about the web is exactly that, the user is always in the control.
Now, I've been fiddling, sketching and planning for a while... If my ideas go according to the expected, in the mid-term plans all hxxp extensions will be completely obsolete and useless. All of that without requiring any habit change from old users as well as making things easier for new users. It may sound a bit too ambitious, but so far it doesn't seem really complex to implement compared to what I've already done in the past here.
