Some of you already noticed it, but our winter theme has been revamped!
And now I present you with the 2nd advent of Snowflakes! The initial snowflakes effect has been revamped based on our users' feedback.
In short: now our flakes are 6-sided and you can disable/enable the effect as well as experiment with newly-added snowflake customization settings by opening the "Ж Snow options" config box, right below the donation bar.
Note: Make sure to have your cookies/localStorage enabled, otherwise your selected snow configs won't carry over from a page to another - not even the enabled/disabled one!
Without further ado, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

I told Sat to make a separate QQ-o-meter as he didn't see the need for a toggle button. Without ABP/userscripts, odds are an official toggle button will take at least a week more to be implemented if the QQ reaches a certain threshold - I didn't even finish polishing the snow code yet.

ult_combo: Yes, the fixes went live together with the winter theme update. You will also notice that
Spoilers' toggle text now reflects the spoiler visibility
Well, sometimes the best changes are those you don't notice until your notified. Your remark above as well as the typical Elec question
Electricus: Is there a way to turn off the snow?
triggered me to watch the falling LAH-snow more carefully. I like the way the big flocks melt as soon as they touch your hot new table structure. The distribution of the snow seems pretty random as it should. I don't like the presence of the fixed snow above the ice, i.m.o. that snow should fall on the ice. A pretty significant error - perhaps on purpose? - is that the symmetry of real snow is different. It's well known that no two snow crystals are exactly the same, but they do share the same 6-fold symmetry property - not 8-fold - see the examples below. We see again: less may be better!
For me a toggle or QQ-meter is not necessary, on the contrary: you may increase the snow fall while I'm looking at it. I like to watch falling snow

I thought about removing the snow above the snow pile, but it was intentional to keep it because it was part of the previous winter theme, also if a snow toggle button is added it'd make sense to keep these flakes above the snow pile.
I didn't add more than 1 flake image to don't slow down page load, however your snowflakes look nice and I can use the css sprite technique so we can have multiple snowflakes images without slowing down page load. It'd be really nice if we could have a better quality/higher resolution pic of that (without the compression artefacts in your jpg above) and possibly a transparent background.

Can't find a better photograph than Horydczak's, perhaps the tiff here is sharper? Good luck!

I found these vectorized ones which look nice, but they lose a lot of detail when scaled down. Well I'll test these and add some more styling to make them unique later.

Beautiful! You can make these a bit bigger than the crystals are now? And can you give them a natural rotation (random left/right, speed) too?

This set seems more varied too, I guess I can use it instead after applying transparency, repainting to white and making proper sprites.
Natural rotation isn't hard per se, I just fear that it might blow up lower-spec comps and mobiles.

ult_combo: This set seems more varied too, I guess I can use it instead after applying transparency, repainting to white and making proper sprites. --> I'd choose only the snow crystal lookalikes (some look like electron orbits, others as artistic (Spiro)graphs)
Natural rotation isn't hard per se, I just fear that it might blow up lower-spec comps and mobiles. --> that's the challenge: to rotate with minimal overhead
Electricus: What this really needs is an option to turn it off.
<-- This remark you made here in an analogous context has made a non-erasble impression to me. That's why I could immediately identify this question as a "typical Elec-question".

The last pack of flakes posted had way too many images and the final image quality wasn't very satisfactory, hence I picked yet another 20 flakes making a definitive set. The load & performance tests are looking good so far. It should be up in ~24 hours or less, when I make the rotation feature and run the tests to check if it doesn't kill the overall performance.

Eh ... it may be another XP issue, but I can only view your long vertical attachment in boxview - in which no option to zoom appears. When I use "Open separately" a white screen appears on http://lah.li/forum/download.php?id=219129
