Boxed attachment viewing |
Quote |
Hey folks,
most sites these days already use a kind of a boxed image viewing, so, as it's been a while since my last enhancement to lah, I have decided to go with the flow for once and implement something similar as well.
This thread will give you tips about using the enhanced viewing.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NEED TO ENABLE JAVASCRIPT ON LAH FOR THIS TO WORK.
By clicking on an attachment, it will not open in a new TAB or Window like before,
but, instead, it will open in a new layer over the page.
You can drag the picture around if you like, or open another.
By clicking on the opened picture, it will go back to being a thumbnail again.
Pictures larger than your screen will get autoscaled to your screen resolution, and will have an "expand" button on their lower right. By clicking it, you will be able to view the picture in its full size.
For gallery, browsing, you can press the RIGHT ARROW and LEFT ARROW keys on your keyboard to view the next or previous attachment on the page you are viewing. You will still have to switch pages though.
Lastly, if you still prefer to open the pictures in a tab, click your MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON or MOUSE WHEEL on the thumbnail, and it will open in a tab.
Over the next few days, this is going to get fine-tuned to your needs.
Enjoy!
Yours truly,
Sat

Thanks Sat, this new function is spankin' awesome
enhanced viewing pleasure = enhanced fapping pleasure? you decide ^_~
also, do take note that pictures posted not as attachments, but as links (due to anti-duplication) will not show up and would still need to be clicked independently.
And, yes, you still need to change pages.

Just a note:
For now it is not yet optimised for slower connections, so it will preload some of the pictures from the threads.
I will get to fixing that tomorrow.

What this really needs is an option to turn it off.

Seconded. Too bad everyone starts having these annoyments.
Also using the mouse wheel only results in having the scroll arrows on the screen allowing me to scroll without turning the wheel (as it's supposed to do) to me, not opening anything.

That happened to me too. I figured it was because I was using an old browser.

For the record, the mouse wheel works for me. Using Firefox's cmd-click 'open link in new tab' does not, however, tho it should. The system seems to have some minor glitches.
Sat has said that 1. Elec would complain, and 2. that he would add an option to the user profiles to turn the feature off. He just hasn't implimented it yet.

That's very nice, thank you Sat.
It was working very well this morning for me... But now the button to enlarge the picture had disapear...
Ah well, it was working fine on IE, Firefox and Opera.. (except that there is no magnifying glass on Opera... But who cares...)
Woops EDIT.

Feather, "open link in new tab" works fine for me with Firefox 3.0.3 provided you right click on the pic's thumbnail before opening the image window box.
Also, scrolling by using a centre mousewheel works fine for me too
I like it Nice bit of work Sat!

You're misunderstanding the glitch, RC. cmd-click automatically opens a link in a new tab without bringing up a contextual menu. I don't know the windows equivalent - ctr-left click maybe. There's no reason it shouldn't work with this mod, yet it doesn't.

Mmm. okay I understand. Yes Ctrl+left click should do this (but doesn't).
